Occupational therapists address the “occupations” of being a child such as playing, going to school and learning, making friends, developing coping skills, and learning self-care skills, among others. Our occupational therapists provide evaluations and occupational therapy that focuses on fine motor, visual motor, visual perceptual, and self-care skill development, as well as sensory processing. Capable Kids occupational therapists work with children with a wide range of diagnoses including Dyspraxia (motor planning difficulties), Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delays, Sensory Processing Disorder (formerly identified as Sensory Integration Dysfunction), and genetic syndromes. Parental involvement in the carry-over of therapy techniques and strategies at home is encouraged. Occupational therapists at Capable Kids hold a NC License and a Master’s Degree.
